Hector Louis François Leboucq (circa 1900)

Biography

Belgian physician and anatomist, initially a pathologist, who wrote a study on tumours and fractures, but then changed from pathological to anatomical morphology.

In addition, he focused on human histology and embryology. He made comparative studies on the extremities, hand and foot, more specifically, the tarsy bones and metatarsal bones. His investigations into the role of the navicular (one of the tarsal bones) and the development of the talus (in the ankle joint) were important. In addition, he studied the human musculature, which he examined for all variants and anomalies.

He died on 22 October 1934 in Ghent, aged 86.
